NPN Philosophy
NPN recognizes that every child has gifts and talents. It is our kuleana (responsibility) as educators to provide educational opportunities and venues that nurture the haumāna (students) learning and educational journey NPN guide keiki in developing educational and career goals that reflect their kuleana to serve their family and community.
NPN Mission and Goal
NPN strives to raise the achievements and aspirations of its students and their families.
NPN serves as a primary Pre K-college enrichment program of the University of Hawaiʻi to increase the number of Hawaiian students who attend and graduate from a University of Hawaiʻi campus.
NPN History
NPN was established at the University of HawaiʻI at Hilo in 1989 for the purpose of increasing educational enrichment opportunities for Hawaiian students throughout Hawaiʻi. The center provides a wide range of community services and program activities from one-day Super Enrichment Saturdays, Summer Institute Residential Programs, Kupulau Programs, an in-depth study at STEAM fields and natural resource management, kumu training and curriculum development.
