Commencement Instructions
Graduation Program
Event Information
Location: Kauai Community College Campus (behind the Performing Arts Center)
Date: Friday, May 12, 2023
Time: 4:30 p.m. (open to the public at 3:30 p.m.)
Check-In
- Check-in starts at 2:00 p.m.
- A registration table will be located in the Fine Arts Auditorium.
- Graduates are encouraged to arrive early to check-in and receive their name cards.
Rehearsal
- Rehearsal begins promptly at 2:45 p.m.
- Entering, standing, sitting and exiting procedures will be rehearsed.
- A group photo will be arranged with each Division.
- Refreshments will be provided in the cafeteria after rehearsal.
Cap+Tassel and Gown Information
You must be dressed in your cap+tassel and gown when you arrive at rehearsal. Your tassel should be worn on the right of your cap until after the symbolic conferring of degrees.
A limited supply of graduation attire will be available in mid-April at the Admissions & Records Office located in the One Stop Center. New and gently used gowns are available to borrow and must be returned after the graduation ceremony. The used gowns have been cleaned and disinfected. A set of the cap and tassel are also available for you to keep free of charge.
If you wish to purchase your own graduation attire, the gown is "one size fits all" based on your height and sold at the KCC Bookstore on a first come, first serve basis. If you feel that you need an "oversize" gown, please call 245-8273 or visit the bookstore to try one on. Online orders are also available at bookstore.hawaii.edu/kauai/.

Dress Code

For Men: It is recommended that you wear a solid-colored shirt with a collar, long black pants and black or dark-colored dress shoes.

For Women: It is recommended that women wear a dress (must be shorter than gown) or long black pants and black or dark-colored dress shoes.
Name Cards
Name cards will be distributed during rehearsal. Your legal first and last name will be used to announce your academic achievements. * Please do not alter your name on the card *
After the Ceremony
You may meet your family and friends on the grass area in between the Performing Arts Building and the Office of Continuing Education. Graduates are instructed to gather near their designated program division sign. Confetti and streamers are prohibited.
Diplomas
Official diplomas will not be provided at the graduation ceremony. Semester grades will not be processed by the ceremony day, therefore, the conferring of degrees is provisional, pending verification that degree and certificate requirements have been met.
Disability Accommodations
If you require access accommodations, please call the Disability Counselor at 245-8317 by Friday, April 28, 2023. Requests for access accommodations received after the deadline may not assure that accommodations requests will be met.
Parking for the elderly and those with mobility limitations are available near the Carpentry Building.
Other Information
- Restrooms are available near the Fine Arts Building and Campus Center.
- Cell phones must be silenced during the ceremony.
- KCC provided gowns must be returned at the registration table.
