Health Insurance for Students

Dear UH Student,

As you get ready for the upcoming semester, healthcare is probably the last thing on your mind, but many times the unexpected happens and if you get sick or get hurt. You'll feel better knowing you have a health plan to take care of you.

The University of Hawai’i encourages you to think about your health insurance needs. Lack of adequate insurance coverage http://www.hmsa.com/portal/?gid=student may be financially devastating in the event of a major illness or accident. Medical costs can be a burden even in the case of a minor illness.

The University of Hawai’i has endorsed HMSA (Hawaii Medical Service Association) as the plan provider for the 2015 – 2016 student health plan.  If you do not already have health insurance coverage, we strongly recommend that you consider enrolling in this plan.

Our Student Plan Includes:

  • Medical (includes office visits, labs, radiology, hospitalization, mental health, medical evacuation, overseas (travel benefits, etc.) and prescription drug coverage.
  • Additional options to purchase coverage for dental and repatriation with life insurance
  • Low deductible
  • No age rating
