Annual Hawai‘i Foodbank Drive

Please consider contributing to the Annual Hawaiʻi Foodbank Drive

Dr. Joseph Daisy

Aloha,

Please consider contributing to the Annual Hawaiʻi Foodbank Drive which runs through May 14, 2021. The issue of hunger is a major challenge facing Hawai’i that has been made worse by the pandemic, affecting those most vulnerable among us.

There are three ways to contribute: donate food and goods, make a monetary donation, and/or purchase foodbank tee shirts. We recognize that many faculty and staff telework and that donating food and goods on campus may be difficult.

FOOD & GOODS: We have partnered with the Hawaiʻi Food Bank - Kaua‘i Branch to collect and distribute items to our campus Food and Goods Pantry. The top five most wanted items are canned proteins (chicken/tuna), canned meals (stew/spaghetti), canned vegetables/fruit, and rice (five to ten pound bags are preferred). Marked red bins (trash cans) are located next to the student ambassador desks in the One Stop Center and the Learning Resource Center.

MONETARY DONATIONS: Monetary contributions may be sent to the Chancellor’s Office or given via the Hawaiʻi Foodbank’s Online Donation page. When completing the donation form, be sure to designate the Hawaiʻi Food Bank - Kaua‘i Branch and include Kaua‘i Community College in the “additional comments.”

FOODBANK TEE-SHIRTS: Pre-order Foodbank Tee-Shirts. On the order form, be sure to include Kaua‘i Community College in the “additional comments.”

I strongly urge you to consider assisting those in need of greater food security by contributing to the Foodbank Drive. Note that while the Annual Foodbank Drive runs through May 14, 2021, our food and goods pantry will be available as long as needed to support our students.

Mahalo,

Joe
